Proceedings vs Book of Abstracts
The proceedings and the Book of Abstracts, both get published in the book format either as an e-book or as a printed book or both. Proceedings usually contain full-length peer-reviewed papers while the Book of Abstracts contains only abstracts or extended abstracts of the presented papers.
Some journals publish abstracts of an academic meeting as supplementary materials however, we prefer to publish abstracts of papers presented in an academic meeting as book and call it Abstract Book or Book of Abstracts. Few common differences between proceedings and book of abstracts are given below-

The author can further submit the extended version to a peer-reviewed journal. Most of the journals accept an extended version of a conference paper with the addition of up to 30% additional work. The author shall clearly mention in the cover letter that its extended paper which has already been published in the proceedings, also cite the conference paper in the extended version. | The abstracts are not considered as prior publication and hence the author develop the abstract into a full-fledged article and submit it to any scholarly journal.
